The Fear the Walking Dead
survivors have battled through brutal conditions and lost loved ones in
the first three seasons – Travis, we’re still not over it – but it
looks like the latest episodes of the AMC drama could be the darkest
yet.
The first pictures from season four
to feature all the old cast favourites and the new arrivals, including
The Walking Dead’s Morgan Jones (Lennie James), provides fans a small
glimpse of what’s in store for the Clarks, Strand and co.
(Nick survived the dam explosion and has been reunited with Luciana and his mum)
The new season will create a “new reality” for the survivors.
In season four of Fear the Walking Dead, we will see the world of Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) and her family through new eyes - the eyes of Morgan Jones (Lennie James), joining the story from the world of The Walking Dead.
(Will Alicia continue to grow as a leader for the group)
The characters’ immediate past mixes with an uncertain present of struggle and discovery as they meet new friends, foes and threats. They fight for each other, against each other and against a legion of the dead to somehow build an existence against the crushing pressure of lives coming apart.
(Strand got lucky again at the dam and has found some hipster clothes for season 4)
There will be darkness and light; terror and grace; the heroic, mercenary, and craven, all crashing together towards a new reality for Fear the Walking Dead.
It was confirmed at the end of 2017 that Lennie James would crossover from The Walking Dead to Fear the Walking Dead in season 4. He is the first character to swap shows in the franchise.
(Strand is looking back in fine form for season 4)
"Lennie James brilliance and humanity in his portrayal of Morgan Jones has been part of the DNA of what makes The Walking Dead so fantastic since the very beginning," said Scott M. Gimple, executive producer for both series.
"Morgan's story will continue in this season of The Walking Dead, and then, it begins again in the upcoming season of Fear the Walking Dead’ pushing the series - and the Walking Dead universe itself - into new directions and possibilities."
"As longtime fans of Lennie James and his portrayal of Morgan Jones, we are thrilled to have him join the cast of Fear the Walking Dead," said Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, showrunners and executive producers for Fear the Walking Dead.
"We look forward to working with Lennie to continue the journey Morgan began on The Walking Dead."
"To take Morgan into this new realm and landscape, to see who he could now be, to see where his story could go in the world of Fear the Walking Dead is wonderfully exciting and I am really looking forward to the challenge," said James.
"My time on The Walking Dead has been a blessing and one of the top working and personal experiences of my life. That cast and crew will have my love, my respect and my deep gratitude until the end of my days."
(Will Nick clash with Rick Grimes' pal Morgan Jones?)
(Will everyone get out of this messy situation alive?)
(Have the tensions between Madison and Alycia finally been put to bed?)
The other new arrivals on the show are Lost star Maggie Grace, who will play Althea in Fear the Walking Dead season 4.
"Althea is someone who is uniquely qualified to survive — to thrive, even — in this world because of who she was before the apocalypse," says co-showrunner Ian Goldberg.
He added: "We have been fans of Maggie Grace for a long time — she brings an intelligence, sensitivity, and innate strength to Althea that has been really exciting to watch”
Maggie Grace starred as Shannon Rutherford in the smash hit series Lost and also played Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Her other credits include Californication, The Twilight Saga and Aftermath.
Two more new additions to the drama series are Garret Dillahunt (The Mindy Project) and Jenna Elfman(Dharma & Greg).
(Meet Garret Dillahunt's new character)
Details about their characters are not known, but they will be series regulars
Dillahunt is a huge Walking Dead fan, who put himself forward to play Negan in The Walking Dead. He will play John, a "man of fascinating contradictions".
(Alicia and Luciana are on the run)
Elfman’s recent TV projects include CBS' Courting Alex and Accidentally on Purpose, NBC's 1600 Penn and Growing up Fisher, and ABC's Imaginary Mary.
She will play Naomi, a new ally for Alicia who is a "capable survivor we'll meet living on her own" at the start of the new season.
