Tottenham Hotspur faced Juventus in a fierce fight for an
advantage in the first leg of the round of 16 in Italy.
The game didn’t start as planned for the visitors as they conceded
two goals within the first nine minutes, thanks to a superb goal from Gonzalo
Higuain in the second minute of the game, as he volleyed a cross from Miralem
Pjanic into the back of the net. Not long after, Ben Davies of Tottenham
committed a clear foul on Federico Bernardeschi inside the box, which resulted
to a spot kick. The same man Gonzalo Higuain stepped up to the task and made it
two from the spot.
The Spurs didn’t give up yet, as they pressured the home
team, having more of the possession in the half. The finally goal came at the
late minutes of the first half as Dele Alli carved the opponent’s defense with
a killer through-ball, the finish was just a mere formality for the
you-know-who, Harry Kane, as he dribbled
the goalkeeper to put the ball where he wanted.
The Home team had a chance to increase their lead, but
Gonzalo Higuain missed a chance to claim his hat-trick when he missed from the
spot at the stoppage time of the first half.
The first half ended Juventus 2-1 Tottenham.
The visitors kicked-off the second half and kept foot on the
pedal. They got rewarded in the 71st minute, when Christian Eriksen curled a
direct free kick into the back of the net to make the scores level.
The game went on to end Juventus 2-2 Tottenham.
